Creekview and Wayside Athletes of the Month


MARCH 2024


Creekview Middle School - Leilani Herrera and Zackariah Smith

Leilani Herrera is an 8th grade student-athlete. She has demonstrated all year what it means to be a Lady Colt. Leilani shows outstanding effort, respect, GRIT and leadership. She is currently on the track team as well as a member of our Lady Colts Soccer team. We are excited to see what she will accomplish in our EMS-ISD Athletics program once she leaves Creekview this year. 


Zackariah Smith was picked as athlete of the month because of his hard work and leadership on the field and in the classroom. He has excelled in all sports this year and is on his way to the Meet of Champions in two events.



Wayside Middle School - Dahlia Castro and De'Rion Jones

We are delighted to acknowledge Dahlia Castro as an exceptional asset to Wayside girls athletics. Dahlia's dedication and talent have made a significant impact in multiple sports, including volleyball and basketball. However, it is in track where she truly shines as a dominating force. Dahlia's involvement in track has proven to be invaluable to our team. Her remarkable speed and agility make her an outstanding contributor in all the relays she participates in. With Dahlia as part of our team, we consistently bring home the gold at every meet, thanks to her unwavering commitment and exceptional performance. We are immensely proud to have Dahlia on our team, and her contributions continue to enhance the reputation and success of Wayside girls athletics!


De'Rion Jones - De'Rion has had an outstanding track season.  He is a natural team leader as he encourages others to excel.  De'rion is also a straight A student.



FEBRUARY 2024

Creekview Middle School - Aubree Esquivel and Edgar Trevino

Aubree has demonstrated all year what it means to be a Lady Colt. She shows outstanding effort, respect, GRIT and leadership. She is currently on the track team and we are excited to see what all she will accomplish! 

Edgar was picked as athlete of the month due to his great work ethic and leadership. Edgar pushes his teammates to be their best on and off the court. He models what it means to be a Creekview Colt.



Wayside Middle School - Kaitlyn Chmielewski and Tyson McFarland

Kaitlyn has demonstrated exceptional dedication and hard work. She is a member of our track and field team and brings enthusiasm and determination. Regardless of the sport, Kaitlyn consistently shows up to practice every day, fully prepared to give her best effort. Her unwavering commitment and relentless work ethic make her a true asset to our girls' athletics program. Kaitlyn's ability to consistently give 100% effort is truly admirable and sets a remarkable example for her teammates. She embodies the values of discipline, perseverance, and teamwork that we strive to instill in our athletes. We are privileged to have Kaitlyn as a member of our athletics community, and we are confident that her dedication and commitment will continue to shine in all her future endeavors!

Tyson is a great student and athlete.  He encourages others to work hard and do their best. Tyson won first place in all of his track events that he competed in during our first track meet.



JANUARY 2024


Creekview Middle School - Brooke Frair and Izack Aguilar

Brooke is an 8th grade student who is involved in many activities at Creekview. She was on A team volleyball, currently A team basketball and AVID. Brooke is new to Creekview this year and has embodied what it means to be a Colt. She demonstrates determination, GRIT, and belief. We are so glad Brooke joined us this year and she is very deserving of Athlete of the Month!

Izack was chosen as Athlete of the Month for Creekview due to his hard work in athletics and in the classroom. 



Wayside Middle School - Marissa Vongphakdy and Ethan Leal

Marissa is a dedicated 7th grade athlete at Wayside and exemplifies hard work and a thirst for knowledge. She consistently goes above and beyond to excel in all her endeavors. As a member of the basketball A team, Marissa not only demonstrates outstanding skills on the court but also exhibits strong leadership qualities off the court. Her character and integrity are truly commendable. We consider ourselves fortunate to have Marissa as a valuable part of our athletics program.

Ethan has demonstrated hard work and dedication and has encouraged his teammates to work hard.

DECEMBER 2023


Creekview Middle School - DJ Newman and Curtis Carlile

DJ, a 7th grade student-athlete, demonstrates GRIT and integrity inside and outside of the classroom. DJ always has a positive attitude and represents Creekview athletics well. DJ was a member of our volleyball team, and she is currently an integral part of our basketball team. DJ represents Creekview in all aspects and we are so happy she is a Colt!


Curtis was chosen as athlete of the month due to his hard work and dedication to improving himself and his teammates. He models what it means to be a great team player and pushes others to be their best. He exemplifies all the traits of a Creekview athlete every single day!


Wayside Middle School - Chloe Arenivas and Tyler Hayden

Chloe has made great strides in her basketball skills, and it shows on the court. From stealing the ball on defense to putting the ball in the hoop, she leads the B team with poise and encouragement. We are proud to have her in our program!

Tyler has shown great leadership on and off the field.  He has demonstrated a positive attitude that has been instrumental in the overall success of his team and his teammates.

NOVEMBER 2023


Creekview Middle School - Kaitlyn Bradshaw and Kingston Calhoun

Kaitlyn, an 8th grade student-athlete, embodies all the qualities of what it means to be a Creekview Colt. She demonstrates GRIT and integrity inside and outside of the classroom. Kaitlyn always has a positive attitude and gives 100% effort in all she does. Kaitlyn was a member of our Cross Country and Volleyball team, and she is currently on our Basketball team. Kaitlyn represents Creekview in all aspects and we are so happy she is a Colt!

Kingston was picked due to his hard work on and off the field. He is a model student-athlete and continues to lead by example in the classroom, hallways and on the court. 



Wayside Middle School - Grace Burdock and Mohammad D. Afzal

Grace Burdock is a "little" firecracker when it comes to sports. This year alone she has been involved in volleyball, basketball, and cheerleading. Grace always exudes great sportsmanship and is very encouraging to her teammates on the court. Although packed in a little body, don't let the size fool you. She is a great athlete, always ready to take on any challenge and we are proud to have her at Wayside!

Mohammad was a leader on and off the field throughout the month of November. During football season he finished with a strong game. He contained our opponent as an outside linebacker and had an interception during the game and scored a 15-yard running touchdown at the last game of the season. He is now a standout player on our basketball team. He encourages all of his teammates with his tireless efforts.


OCTOBER 2023



Creekview Middle School - Aubrie Hernandez and Jayden Valdez

Aubrie encompasses what it means to be a Creekview Colt. She demonstrates GRIT and integrity inside and outside of the classroom. During the volleyball season, she was always a leader on the team and stepped up. Aubrie represents Creekview in all aspects and we are so happy she is a Colt!


Jayden exemplifies what it means to be a multisport athlete at Creekview. He continues to be a valuable piece of the Colts football team, helping them to an undefeated record heading into week 8 while playing on both sides of the ball. He also has multiple Top 10 finishes in Cross Country as well as making it to the Meet of Champions! 



Wayside Middle School - Jillian Smith and Isaiah Wade

Jillian is an 8th grade athlete involved in many sports. Not only did she compete in cross-country, but she is also on the volleyball A team, the tennis team and a cheerleader! Jill always brings a smile to whatever she is doing, never complains, and is committed to everything she is involved in.  She is the epitome of doing "all the things" and we are proud to have her as an athlete at Wayside!

Isaiah demonstrates positive leadership for his team and around our campus. He is the QB for our football team who always motivates his teammates to do their best and never give up.



SEPTEMBER 2023




Creekview Middle School - Savanna Neighbors and Tyler Reyes

Savanna is an 8th grade student who plays multiple sports, including cross country, volleyball, basketball, track and plays softball outside of school. She embodies all the qualities of a student athlete and demonstrates what it means to be a Creekview Colt. Savanna always has a positive attitude and is a leader all throughout the campus. 

Tyler has an incredible work ethic. He is a leader in our athletics program and not only pushes himself but also all of his teammates. His accomplishments so far are multiple first place finishes in cross country for 8th grade and leading the football team to a 2-0 record so far this season. 



Wayside Middle School - Keylee Williams and Alexander Chladzynski

Alexander works hard and always has a great attitude.  He shows leadership both on and off the field and always strives to get better and help others around him to be better. He leads warmups each day, helps less experienced players and is encouraging for all his teammates. Alex is the #1 boys tennis players for Wayside and has yet to lose a match this year in singles or doubles. 

Keylee is one of the most dedicated and hard-working athletes at Wayside. Every day before practice, she works on her own to improve her skills in volleyball. She is constantly asking questions to get better and even takes notes whenever needed. She is the definition of an outstanding athlete!
