Ismael Castaneda

Coach Ismael Castaneda graduated from Fossil Ridge High School in 2003. He received his B.A. History degree from the University of Texas in Arlington in 2010 with honors (Cum Laude) and became Spanish certified in 2012.

He coached for four years at Arlington Heights High School as the girls JV basketball coach. While at Arlington Heights High School, Coach Castaneda developed year after year a solid JV girls basketball program as well as assisted the Varsity girls in reaching two playoff appearances.

In 2015, he decided to become a car salesman, which he did for two years. After realizing how much he missed coaching, Coach Castaneda decided to return to teaching and coaching in 2016 at Boswell High School.

He is currently the girls JV basketball coach, as well as the girls JV softball coach. In his first year as the girls JV basketball coach, he led the team to a 13-1 season record, one game shy of a perfect season. In his second year, Coach Castaneda and his team found themselves with a 3-6 season record after the first 9 games, as they were on the verge of obtaining a losing season. However, that was not the case. The Boswell JV girls basketball team, led by Coach Castaneda responded by winning the last five games and finishing with another winning record of 8-6. “Winners never quit, quitters never win!”

Ismael and his beautiful wife Vanessa live in Fort Worth. Vanessa, who is also a teacher, has taught for Fort Worth ISD for 5 years. She received her degree from the University of North Texas. Both Ismael and Vanessa Castaneda are proud parents of their daughter Madison.
