John Reese

Coach Reese joined Boswell High School as the Head Coach of Girls’ Basketball in the 2015-16 season.  Coach Reese is a former Ram from Angelo State University where he played basketball for the two-time Conference Champions under Ed Messbarger.  Reese graduated from Angelo State University with a degree in kinesiology and speech communications.  

Coach Reese has over 400 wins in 13 seasons as a head coach. He is the all-time winningest coach in Lady Pioneer basketball history, closing in on 200 overall victories and 100 district wins as a Boswell coach. Coach Reese has led the Lady Pioneers to the playoffs every year, and his accolades include four district titles (three of those were undefeated district titles), six bi-district championships, four berths in the regional quarterfinals, and two berths in the regional semi-finals. Coach Reese and his staff have been named district coach of the year three times. 

Previously, Coach Reese, was with the Bryan Independent School District for 19 years, 15 of which were at Bryan High School.  Reese led the Vikings to a 30-3 record and spot in the area round of the state playoffs.  In his decade at the helm of the boys’ basketball program, he led the Vikings to 247 wins, seven district championships, and nine playoff appearances.  Coach Reese then moved to Texas A&M University as the assistant coach to Billy Kennedy.  Reese completed three years on the A&M basketball staff. 

Just before coming to Boswell, Coach Reese was at Plano East High School as an assistant coach for the girls’ basketball program leading them to the playoffs for the first time in several years. 

Reese is a long-time member of the Texas High School Coaching Association, the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches and the National Association of Basketball Coaches.  Coach Reese has two sons, Jerron - Texas A&M graduate and J-Mychal - University of North Texas graduate.  Jerron is a basketball coach like his father and J-Mychal begins his professional basketball career this fall.
