Matthew Smith

Coach Matthew Smith is the safeties coach for the Boswell Pioneer football team.  Smith becomes the third head girls wrestling coach in program history for the 2022-23 season. He'll work alongside current boys head coach Josh Cadenhead, who also started the program in 2007.

Coach Smith came to Boswell in 2020 as an assistant wrestling coach, after spending four years at Plano East High School, and five years at L.D. Bell both as an assistant wrestling coach. 

Under his coaching, he has produced several district and regional champions as well as state qualifiers and medalists. One of his proudest moments as a coach was setting a school record with five state qualifiers in 2016 while at L.D. Bell. 

Coach Smith graduated with his bachelor's degree in History and Kinesiology from UNT in 2002, and finished his master's degree in Educational Administration in 2015 from Texas A&M Commerce. 

Smith teaches World History, and when he's not on the wrestling mats, you can find him out on the football field coaching the safeties for the Pioneer football team. 

Coach Smith and his wife Tricia have two kids; Tricia and Madeline. Outside of school, he enjoys playing golf, being outdoors, and traveling with his family. 

Coach Smith graduated from the University of North Texas with a degree in Kinesiology and History.  He also graduated from Texas A&M Commerce in 2015, with a Masters degree in educational administration. 

He and his wife Tricia who teaches at Eaton High School in Northwest ISD, have two children; Brady and Madeline.
