The Boswell Pioneers opened their 2024 season with a thrilling home game against the Denton Braswell Bengals on Friday, Aug. 30. In a tightly contested battle, the Pioneers and Bengals traded blows throughout the game, with Braswell ultimately edging out a win with a final score of 46-42.
Sophomore QB Dju Dju Vigil had a great performance, completing 21 of 30 passes for over 250 yards, while sophomore RB Chance Lassiter rushed for 170 yards and three touchdowns. Senior Kairel Roberson caught 11 passes and had a 64 yard kickoff return and snagged an interception on defense. On the defensive side, Senior Christian Lassiter led the team with over 10 tackles, and senior Wyatt Robinson contributed several tackles along with a sack.
The Pioneers are set to face the Saginaw Rough Riders in the Wagon Wheel game this Friday, Sept. 6, at 7:30 p.m. at Saginaw.
