For the first time this season, the Lady Pioneers were on blue and gold soil last night, facing off against the Birdville Lady Hawks. Boswell found it difficult to find their footing against their opponent; However, this did not mean the girls in blue greatly struggled. Throughout the night and all four sets, both teams fought ferociously for dominance over the court, and though the Lady Pioneers only put up one win against Birdville, it holds the accomplishment of showcasing the largest point gap with a final score of 25-14. Their close pursuit of the Lady Hawks was led by Senior Abbey Munk and Sophomore Emily Brister, who both racked up eight kills each, and Sophomore Emma Stuhr with a staggering 15 assists. Junior Maribel Longspaugh and Sophomore Alexa Cenotto helped to keep Birdville in check with 21 and 18 digs respectively, and Senior Carly Curtis, Sophomore Emily Brister, and Freshman Peyton Jackson further aided on defense by leading the team to a total of nine blocks.
The Lady Pioneers are back on the road for one more tournament this Friday and Saturday, heading to Forney and looking to score big wins.
