Rounding out their final tournament of the season, the Lady Pioneers returned home Friday for a spirited showdown against the Denton Ryan Lady Raiders. The battle between the two teams was fierce, with very little leeway given for either to pull away to any great extent. This gridlock, however, did not stop the girls in blue from finding the cracks in the Lady Raiders' armor and putting up three consecutive and distinctive wins, totalling up to 25-17, 25-20, and 25-20 for all three rounds and amassing 11 team blocks and 38 team kills.
The team was led by senior Avery Cartwright, who made 11 kills, six digs, and a solo block. She was aided by fellow seniors Brooklyn Williams with 20 assists and eight digs, Carly Curtis with four kills three solo blocks, and two block assists, and Abbey Munk with five kills and one solo block. Following their example was sophomore Jillian Smith with six kills, two solo blocks, two block assists, and six digs, and Emily Brister with six kills and two block assists. Freshman Peyton Jackson helped add to the team total with five kills of her own and one solo block.
Boswell is on the road Tuesday, September 9th, to face of against Crowley.
