Hosting Northwest on Friday, the Lady Pioneers started off October with a nail-bitingly close - but equally as triumphant - victory. Both sides fought fiercely the entire evening, giving little ground that they didn't in-turn take later down the line. The girls in blue (and pink) came up short in the first set by a meager four points, 21-25, but the temporary setback was enough to light a fire that saw them puch past their opponent's tight defenses and steal the win in the second, third, and fifth set at 25-16, 25-22, and 15-12 respectively. Emily Brister led the offense with 19 kills, followed by Jillian Smith with 11 kills, 19 digs, and a service ace, and Sophia Reyes chalked up eight kills. Adriana Gomez Robles contributed seven kills and six blocks, Alexic Woahloe added four kills and five blocks, and Peyton Jackson recorded six kills and seven blocks. On the defensive side of the ball, Libero Alexa Cenotto was the teams anchor with an impressive 35 digs.
Tuesday, October 6th, the Lady Pioneers seek to repeat their victory against the Lady Indians of Keller.
