The Pioneers fought tooth and nail this past weekend at the annual EMS Tournament. Injuries and sickness blighted the ranks of the boys in blue, leaving only six competitors to take the mat on behalf of Boswell. However, despite starting off on the back foot, the Pioneers were up to the challenge and faced their opponents with conviction. Josh Bailey led the charge by winning gold in the 144 lbs weight class, followed closely by Mohammed Mohammed, Jeremiah Featherson, and Porter Stephenson who recorded their own wins over the weekend.
The Lady Pioneers put up an equally admirable performance in their matches, making their way to the championship finals on day two. Kylie Groot secured a flawless 7-0 victory over the course of the tournament, winning five matches by pin and two via major decision. Ainsley Suggs and Christine Johnson finished as Tournament Runner-Ups in their respective weight classes, and Rose Kimball, Blythe Cadenhead, and Darleska Cordaway each racked up valuable team points to the lead the girls in blue to a fourth place finish.
The gentlemen are back home for the Boswell Quad and their final meet of 2025 on Saturday, December 20th, while the ladies are away for the Birdville Bash.
