Homecoming night held a fierce fight for the Pioneers, taking to their home turf against an undefeated Keller Indian team. Both forces clashed with high intensity all throughout the evening, wrestling for control of the field and refusing to give much ground either way. Near the end, the Indians managed to pull away and looked to be coming home with another win, but the boys in blue kicked it into high gear, closed a seventeen point deficit, and forced the game into overtime. Dju Dju Lords had a career best 441 passing yards to go along with touchdown passes to Kanyon Diaz, Peyton Rhodes, and Michael Brown. Chance Lassiter started the scoring with a 54 yard touchdown rush in the first quarter. On the defensive side of the ball, Lamar Isidore had his best game of the season, completing eight tackles including one for a loss, following close behind Caden Price who lead the Pioneer defense with 15 tackles. Unfortunately, however, even with their stellar performance, the Keller Indian just barely managed to sneak through the other side victorious 53-54.
The Pioneers are taking the week to train for another tough matchup coming next week on Thursday, October 8th, against Timbercreek.
