The Pioneer wrestling team opened up the season on the turf against Saginaw on Thursday, Nov 17 in the 4th annual Turf Wars. Along with a couple of regional qualifiers, several new faces made the boys' lineup. The team is senior-heavy in the upper weight division, with underclassmen in the lower weight classes. Pinning their opponents were Taylor Daniels, David Kurek, and Connor Campbell. Earning a win were Jeremiah Perez, Zack Hudson, and Damian Mercado. Wrestling tough were first-year wrestlers Ethan Weitzman and Mohammad Jafari. The Pioneers will wrestle next at Colleyville Heritage on Dec. 2-3.

The Lady Pioneers added 12 brand new wrestlers to the team who gained valuable experience in the home dual. Lah Kain, Taighan Underwood, and Carlie Bleeker all pinned their opponents from Saginaw. The Lady Pioneers return to the mat at the Lady Nest Invitational tournament in Azle on Saturday, Dec. 3.
