Tuesday proved to be an edge-of-your-seat thriller for the Pioneer family as girls basketball took to the court against Lancaster in the State Semifinals. It was a pulse-pounding match from start to finish with the Lady Pioneers keeping a tight grip on the ball and launching attack after attack against their opponent's side of the stadium. Under the cheers and affirmations from friends and family, and the pressure of a four point margin in the third quarter, the girls in blue dominated and came out the other side as State Semifinals champions for the first time in the program's history. It was a substantial win, as well, ending in a final score of 48-32 over a very tough Lancaster team. Camille Williams, Sydney Durrah, and Salena Carrasco lead the Boswell offense with a combined total of 32 points, and Seleste Massey added a further 12 towards the team's victory. Durrah also was a standout on defense, aiding the Lady Pioneers in mobilizing against the Tigers to allow only three players to put up points all throughout the game.
The Lady Pioneers travel to the Alamodome in San Antonio on Saturday, March 1, looking to add yet another win to this already amazing season and a State title to their names.
