The Pioneer wrestling teams opened their season under the lights Tuesday night at Roughrider Stadium at their annual Turf Wars. The boys team secured the win with a final score of 45-34. Jeremiah Perez, Zach Hudson, Aidan Power, Mohammad Jafari, Owen Power, and Ashtyn Davis won 6 head-to-head matches. Perez, Hudson, Davis and both Power brothers all pinned their opponent. The Pioneers will wrestle at Eaton High School on Dec. 2.
The girls team came up short with a score of 21-30. Ainsley Suggs started the night off with a first period pin for the Lady Pioneers. Breeanna Seevers won her first match of the season with an 8-6 overtime victory. The Lady Pioneers return to the mat in Azle at the Nest Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 2.
