Pioneers showcase grit at 6A Region 1 Championships

Boswell wrestlers competed at the 6A Region 1 Championships on Feb. 9-10 at Thomas Coliseum. Day one saw a solid performance with Jeremiah Perez and Zach Hudson securing victories in their initial matches, while Adam Zamora faced a setback in his first bout. Despite losses in the quarterfinals, both Perez and Hudson bounced back in the consolation rounds. Zamora won his first consolation match advancing to the third round and finished 1-2 at Regionals in the 175 weight class. In the final round of day one Perez lost a close match while Hudson won and advanced to day two. Hudson faced narrow defeats on day two, concluding his journey in the 132 lb. bracket with a sixth place finish.

On the girls team, sophomore Darleyska Cordaway secured a pin against Haltom and finished in the Top 12 in her weight class. Freshman Klarissa Espinoza, in her inaugural Region tournament, showcased promise despite going 0-2.
